Using the FNU Library Catalog

Circulation Policies

Books can be checked out by faculty, students, or staff, either for use on-campus or to be sent to you. Materials checked out for on-campus use during Bounds will be due at the end of the Bound. Items to be mailed will be on loan for 30 days, with the option to renew once for another 30 days.

The following materials cannot be checked out and must be used within the library:

  • journals
  • textbooks
  • archives

Materials that cannot be checked out will have a "Not for loan" status on the item details page:

Placing Holds

Please use these instructions in order to request an item be checked out and mailed to you.

  1. Click on the "Place hold" link from either the search results list or the item details page:

  2. Click the button for "Log in to your account" (Only current FNU faculty, students, and staff can place holds and check out materials.)

  3. Confirm your hold. Be sure to change your pick up location to "Mailed to you."

  4. You will receive an email notice to confirm your hold has been placed. Please check this email to ensure your mailing address is correct.
    The library will send another notice once your hold has been processed and is in the mail.
