The FNU Library does not subscribe to UpToDate. We know that it is quite popular in clinical settings, but it is cost prohibitive for our library. We use DynaMed as our clinical reference resource.
A thorough review of point of care tools including UpToDate, Clinical Key, DynaMed, and others was completed by a subcommittee of the Library Committee in Spring, 2017. While none of the products were perfect, UpToDate and DynaMed were the clear favorites. However, there was not enough difference between the two to justify the high cost of UpToDate.
Advantages of DynaMed:
The library provides an additional point of care tool, Essential Evidence Plus, which also provides quick, evidence-based clinical reference.
As librarians, we feel it’s more important for students to critically appraise the available evidence and decide for themselves on the best course of action. In other words, the tool you use is not as important as your ability to evaluate the information found in it.
The FNU Library does not subscribe to Epocrates Plus. We use Lexicomp as our drug reference resource. There is a free version of Epocrates available by signing up for an account with them.
Unfortunately, we cannot offer our alumni full access to our library resources due to licensing restrictions. Please view the Library Resources for Alumni page for resources that alumni may find helpful.
Includes quick guides, tutorials, and sample bibliographies for learning and using APA Style, as well as tools to help you plan your research and writing. (Formerly APA Style Central)
